Album of the Week: Youth Novel by Lykke Li

I haven’t heard such a good straight up pop album in a long time. I’m not a Lady Gaga fan really, I rarely listen to top 40 music, so if you expect me to write about that kind of music on my blog, you’d come to the wrong place. Lykke Li is a Swedish indie pop/alternative singer. There is something really unique about her voice, it has an innocent quality to it, much like the French yi yi singers of the 60’s, but well…er… Swedish. I know that probably doesn’t make sense, but seriously…just listen to Youth Novel. Also, I really dig her sense of style, I would totally rock her accessories and clothing if I had the money.
I know her album, Youth Novel, came out in 2008 so I’m behind the times, but who cares. Good music is good, no matter when it came out. Here’s hoping she releases a new one soon!

Her voice reminds me of the original vocalist of Hooverphonic and also Kelli Dayton who used to be with Sneaker Pimps. Yeah, it’s definitely a unique voice, I like it.
